Team Equa protagonist in Paris 2024

The Paris Paralympics recently ended and our athletes are already busy with the World Championships in Zurich.

But let’s go in order.

There are 8 athletes that Team Equa presented at the Olympic event in the cycling (road and track), handbike and triathlon disciplines;

Cycling and Handbike – Italian National Team

– Lorenzo Bernard- Davide Plebani cat. MB
– Fabrizio Cornegliani cat. MH1
– Claudia Cretti cat. WC5
– Martino Pini cat. MH3
– Ana Maria Vitelaru cat. WH5

Para-Triathlon – Italian National Team
Giovanni Achenza

Cycling and Handbike – Austrian National Team
Svetlana Moshkovich cat. WH4

Eight athletes summoned to Paris from the same team consecrate Team Equa as one of the strongest paracycling teams in the world. They are all highly experienced runners and we particularly highlight Giovanni Achenza, who won Bronze in Rio and Tokyo in the triathlon.

Our athletes begin with the track tests where the Plebani-Bernard couple first enters the finals and then wins the first Bronze for Team Equa.

Less good however for Claudia Cretti who finished in 7th place in the qualifying rounds.

On September 4th our boys will compete for road tests.

An amazing Cornegliani wins an incredible gold.

Ana Maria Vitelaru 5th in the time trial, Svetlana Moshkovich, certainly disadvantaged by the merging of the classes, and Claudia Cretti eighth.

In the afternoon, Martino Pini takes to the track and snatches the first Road Bronze for Team Equa at these Paris Games. In recent weeks Martino Pini’s condition has improved considerably and this bronze medal is confirmation of this.

Ninth place for the Plebani-Bernard pair, bronze on the track in the previous days.

The morning of the road race opens with bad weather and the start is moved forward to make the test more “humane”.

Excellent performance by Ana Maria Vitelaru who, like Svetlana, immediately managed to maintain the front row of the group led in the first kilometers by the American Masters, then by the Dutch Haenen who unfortunately lost control of the vehicle due to a driving error and is forced to abandon.

Our Ana Vitelaru constantly remained in second position for the entire duration of the race; concludes the test by giving President Spada and Team Equa the third bronze of this Paris 2024 Paralympic expedition. A bronze of great value for Ana Maria who went through a truly difficult season due to the loss of her young brother. A bronze dedicated to him that is worth as much as gold.

The last race of the day sees the H3 involved with our Martino Pini still hot from the bronze two days earlier. It starts very well but loses a lot of ground due to a rollover. It starts again and spends every watt to mend a gap that seems impossible. He crossed the finish line in fifth regret. Surely his form could have made him medal but this is sport too.

These games end with an important medal count for Team Equa and its Patron, Ercole Spada who confirms himself at the helm of one of the strongest teams in the world.
