End-of-January training camp in Spain, in Altea, where the entire Bardiani Team was also in training.
Located between Valencia and Alicante, Altea is an ideal destination for winter training, testing your fitness, and measuring yourself against rival teams. In many ways, the season really begins here.
We spent a few days there with Andrea Casadei, our Italian Paralympic champion in the C3 category. Despite challenging weather conditions — we caught the tail end of Cyclone Harry — we were able to gather a wealth of valuable material for the book, which, as usual, will be released at the end of the year.
Altea is a charming seaside town, chosen not only by athletes but also by many people looking to spend the winter in mild temperatures, typically ranging between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius. The routes are varied, featuring manageable but frequent elevation changes: long, steady climbs that are perfect for interval training, as well as more rolling sections winding through orange groves near the coast.
