Hi everyone, we’re Fabio and Chiara Colombo, siblings aged 19 and 21, from Eupilio, a small village in the province of Como, and we have both been visually impaired since the age of 9.
Our passion for cycling began on mountain bikes, racing in competitions around Lombardy until the age of 11, when we were sadly forced to give up our beloved bikes due to vision problems.
We were diagnosed with retinal dystrophy, which caused our visual impairment.
It had become too dangerous for us to continue racing. After a few years off the bike and many moments of discouragement, we finally found a way not to lose our passion.
We said to ourselves: “If we can’t race alone, why not do it together?” That’s how we decided to try tandem cycling.
I, Fabio, was the first to give it a shot, and then Chiara, my sister, followed—just like she had when we both got into mountain biking.
Our passion only grew as we started pedaling not just as a pair, but as a team of four.
So, this is us.
