My name is Chiara Colombo, I’m 19 years old, and I am a visually impaired young woman.
I’ve always had a passion for two wheels—when I was younger, I raced mountain bikes. Then, at the age of 9, I was diagnosed with maculopathy, a degenerative eye disease that affects vision.
That moment marked the beginning of a complicated and challenging journey—learning to live with this condition while focusing on new goals, without ever giving up on my passion.
For about a year now, I’ve had the honor of wearing the Italian national team jersey, a major milestone that has allowed me to compete internationally in the tandem cycling category, alongside my pilot Elena Bissolati.
So, this is me.
